Dr. Obeidat holds the position of Associate Professor within the Department of Translation at Yarmouk University (YU). He completed his Ph.D. in Translation Studies at the University of Salford, United Kingdom 2011. His primary research expertise includes audiovisual translation, interpreting, political discourse analysis, pragmatics, and translation theories. During the academic year 2019/2020, Dr. Obeidat embarked on a sabbatical leave, contributing his expertise to the English Language and Translation Department at the Applied Science Private University (ASU) in Amman, Jordan.
At present, Dr. Obeidat serves as the President of the Jordanian Translators’ Association (JTA), reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of translation. In the academic year 2018/2019, he assumed the role of Department Head for the Department of Translation within the Faculty of Arts at Yarmouk University. From 2011 to 2013, Dr. Obeidat was a faculty member at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he imparted his knowledge in the realms of translation and interpreting. His teaching portfolio comprised an array of courses, including translation theories, legal translation, literary translation, as well as consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, among others.
