I am an associate professor in the Faculty of Nursing at Yarmouk University, holding a PhD in nursing, and a nurse with a diverse professional background, having spent approximately 15 years working as a clinical nurse in the Middle East before transitioning to academia, which makes me well-versed in both clinical and academic fields of nursing. Over the past 10 years, I have been actively involved in academia. Presently, I am employed as an associate professor at Yarmouk University, and previously, I held teaching positions at both the University of Jordan and Isra University.
Within the academic realm, my primary focus has been on cross-cultural research and translation issues to understand the complexities of human behavior within diverse cultural contexts. Furthermore, I have directed my attention towards studying patients' outcomes in various domains, including mental health and chronic diseases. My research explores areas such as mental health conditions, issues related to refugees, women's health, and responses to public health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to my research pursuits, I am involved in the field of education, with a particular interest in team-based learning as an active teaching strategy. Moreover, I am passionate about youth empowerment programs that have the potential for broad impact.
Throughout my career, I have undertaken both funded and unfunded research, resulting in journal publications, book chapters, and conference presentations. In leadership roles, I have served as Head of the Ophthalmic Operating Theaters at the University of Jordan Hospital and as Head of the Department of Advanced Nursing at the School of Nursing, Isra University..
Although I have a wide range of achievements in my career path, I would like to take pride in highlighting the two most recent. Firstly, I am recognized as a Fellow of the United Kingdom Higher Education Academy. This distinction showcases my commitment to excellence in nursing education and my dedication to advancing teaching practices within the healthcare field. As a Fellow, I actively pursue professional development opportunities, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies and staying updated on evidence-based nursing practices. Being a Fellow of the United Kingdom Higher Education Academy reflects my commitment to promoting excellence in nursing education, improving patient care outcomes, and empowering the next generation of nurses. I strive to bridge the gap between theory and practice, inspire future nursing leaders, and make a lasting impact on healthcare delivery. I merge my nursing expertise with teaching excellence, creating a transformative learning experience for students.
Secondly, as an Editorial Member in BMC Nursing, a role reserved for those who demonstrate exceptional capabilities, I have quickly taken on the responsibility of editing a diverse range of papers as an appointee to the role of Editorial Member in BMC Nursing. Dedicated to ensuring quality and accuracy, I provide comprehensive reviews and constructive feedback to enhance clarity and scientific rigor. By engaging with the editorial team and seeking guidance from senior members, I continuously develop my skills. This experience provides a comprehensive understanding of current nursing trends and research gaps. In a short time, I have already made meaningful contributions to the journal and eagerly anticipate further growth and impact.
My social contributions extend to being a member of the social work association, where I train social workers on effective client interaction in various settings, such as case management and community assessment. Additionally, I am actively involved in training social workers on ethical codes, including the handling of client confidentiality in cases of domestic violence and child abuse. Moreover, I am a member of the academic association of Jordanian women, working towards empowering women in academia, including students, teachers, and employees at higher education institutions.
