Dr. Ghina’a Abu Deiab
Ghina'a earned her BSc in Pharmacy from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2006, followed by MSc in Organic Synthesis from the same university in 2010. In 2016, Ghina’a went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to pursue a PhD in the group of Prof. Mitchell Croatt, focusing her research on synthesizing potent neuroprotective agents against stroke, and successfully defended her thesis in 2016.
In 2017, Ghina’a started her academic career as an assistant professor at the Applied Science Private University in Jordan. In September 2019, Ghina’a joined Yarmouk University, teaching and doing research in both Medicinal Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Her research group works on the design and synthesis of medicinal agents, including anti-proliferative and anti-Alzheimer’s agents. Besides, the group is working on exploring novel teaching methodologies in Organic Chemistry. Moreover, the group has been doing research on studying drug-protein binding using computer-based models. Recently the group has received prestigious external funding from the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation.
Ghina’a was promoted to associate professor in July 2025 and appointed as the head of the Technology Transfer Department at the Deanship of Scientific Research in September 2024. Under her leadership, the department has received over 35 patent applications and initiated the registration of trademarks and material copyright. Moreover, the development of intellectual property forms, policies, agreements, and workshops has been accomplished.
