About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Systems and Informatics Engineering at Yarmouk University, where I have been serving since 2016. I also held the position of Department Chair from 2017 to 2019.

My academic background spans computer engineering with a strong focus on bioinformatics. I earned my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Bioinformatics) from The Ohio State University (USA) in 2016. Prior to that, I completed my M.S. in Computer Engineering at Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2009, and my B.S. in Computer Engineering at Yarmouk University in 2004.

During my doctoral studies, I worked as Research Assistant in the Biomedical Informatics Department at The Ohio State University (2014–2016). I also served as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Computer Engineering at Yarmouk University (2004–2005).

Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of computational science and biomedical data. These include:

-Bioinformatics

-Sequence Analysis

-Parallel Computing

-Machine Learning and Deep Learning

Non-Academic Experience

In addition to my academic career, I have industry experience in research, development, and software systems. I worked at MB-Risk Management-FSS Company, where I held two positions over the span of seven years:

Branch Manager at the R&D center located at Yarmouk University (June 2008 – August 2012), overseeing development projects and leading technical teams.

Systems Developer (June 2005 – June 2008), focusing on the design and implementation of software systems for risk management and financial services.
